Everyone deserves an equal chance at a home. That belief isn't a policy line for me — it's how I do this work, every client, every showing, every offer.
Jessica Moren and Ashworth Real Estate are committed to the letter and the spirit of United States and Minnesota fair housing law. We do not discriminate, and we will not participate in discrimination by anyone else in a transaction.
Who the law protects
The federal Fair Housing Act makes it unlawful to discriminate in the sale, rental, or financing of housing on the basis of any of these protected classes:
- Race
- Color
- National origin
- Religion
- Sex, including sexual orientation and gender identity
- Familial status
- Disability
Minnesota law additionally protects
The Minnesota Human Rights Act reaches further than the federal statute. In Minnesota, it is also unlawful to discriminate in housing on the basis of:
- Creed
- Marital status
- Status with regard to public assistance
- Sexual orientation
- Gender identity
- Age, in some provisions
If you need an accommodation, just ask
Fair housing is only real if the door is genuinely open. If you need a reasonable accommodation to communicate with me or to view a home — a different format for documents, an interpreter, step-free access to a showing, extra time, anything at all — please tell me. There's no form to fill out and no reason to explain more than you'd like. I'll make it work.
Trained for it, and glad to be
I hold the At Home With Diversity (AHWD) certification, the National Association of REALTORS® program on fair housing, cultural competency, and serving every kind of buyer and seller well. It's a credential I chose to earn because doing this right matters to me.
If you ever believe you've been treated unfairly in a housing transaction — with me or anyone else — you can reach me directly at (651) 373-5326 or MorenMovesYou@gmail.com. You may also file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) or the Minnesota Department of Human Rights.
